The five elements.
Everything in saju is read through five elements. Each has a season, a direction, a color and a temperament, and each appears in a yang and a yin form, which gives the ten Day Master types.
How they relate
In the feeding cycle Wood feeds Fire, Fire feeds Earth, Earth feeds Metal, Metal feeds Water and Water feeds Wood. In the shaping cycle Wood shapes Earth, Earth shapes Water, Water shapes Fire, Fire shapes Metal and Metal shapes Wood.
